Thanks for your reply. I did solve the problem, maybe one day later than this blog. Everything works well, only except for the so-called “full screen” bug, which others face too. I tried to toggle the “full screen” mode, but it never worked. Well, nowadays, I got used to this and everything is OK now.

BTW, I didn’t have any problem with the text-entry window though, weird.

I feel bad that I didn’t respond promptly to your reply…

I’d suggest installing MacPorts to install the ”windowmaker” package. Have you tried that also? I’m not sure where you get the Debian ”apt-get” command in OS X, but I tried (under root user) “port install windowmaker” and it installed fine. The only problem right now is that I cannot actually *start* WindowMaker… I’m right here still, composing this from the Macintosh command line (without Aqua GUI; type “>console” as user w/ not password and you get full CLI). With MacPorts, you type “export PATH=/opt/local/bin:/opt/local/sbin:$PATH” so that it will work correctly. If you do not add the directories to your PATH, ports will not be able to work. The SHell will say “Error: no file or directory ”ports”” or something similar. So far, all the instructions I could find on Google were obsolete and for Tiger 10.5 only. I can’t help you here.

Oh, I must say that the text-entry fields for messages, emails, etc. need to be improved; I had to write on one line and couldn’t see the rest of my message!

Now months passed and I think I’ve established a harmonic relationship with my Mac. It’s working on well only except for the full screen bug…

Having an X 11 problem (and I have a new hard drive because the old one and the optical drive died). I can click on Open Office and get the bounce but X 11 is not loading up. As a new Mac user I can say that thus far I am not sure there is that much difference between PC’s and Mac’s. They both make you want to yell, scream, and pull your hair out
